Socks are one of the top needs for people living unhoused, but they’re also one of the least donated. Most of us grab a fresh pair from a drawer without thinking. For someone on the street, it’s a whole different reality—walking miles every day in worn-out shoes, with socks that are wet, stiff, full of holes, and almost impossible to wash. After a couple of days, they’re done and thrown away.
